The Busy Moms Guide to Making 2016 a Great New Beginning

I love the promise of new beginnings.

Mondays, early mornings, new school semesters and new years. I love all the buzz of potential and promise of sparkly goodness. I have a particularly good feeling about 2016. That might be because recently I have stepped back a little from my public forums to spend lots and lots of time recreating a health coaching practice that serves busy moms even better than before. I worked hard to be ready to introduce you to Real Moms, Real Health and now I am just so excited to do it. I wanted to create something very special for you and I feel that I have been successful. I could not wait to share this with you!

Not only that, but as the year progresses, I will have more and more content and programs to present to you, my community of fellow busy moms. So, for those reasons and more, this is a very exciting new year for me and I know that it will be magical year for you as well. Together we are going to make 2016 the best ever.

I know that you feel that tingle of growing potential, too. You are ready for 2016 to be the best year yet. You are setting goals and I know that you can reach them. But I also know that you are busy (what mom isn't?) so I want to share with you 3 awesome ways that you can be sure that 2016 is the start of something wonderful. With these 3 strategies, even the busiest mom can be sure that 2016 is a great new beginning.

1. Prioritize You. Not only is this nice to do once in a while, but making yourself a priority is actually essential to your overall health. You just can't be a happy and healthy gal if you are not making yourself a priority which you can do by practicing self care. Self care has to be an everyday thing. If it is not something you currently put at the top of your list of things to do, start small and be sure to include one act of self care a day. If you do currently have some self care practices that you enjoy, awesome! But add some more. Why? You may have heard this quote "You can not give from an empty vessel." To be your best you, you must take excellent care of yourself. And do not forget that you are totally and completely worth it.

Self care practices to consider:

  • drinking lemon water
  • early morning stretches
  • journaling
  • daily mantras
  • dry brushing
  • taking a multi vitamin
  • epsom salt baths
  • quiet time alone

2. Take it Slow. Whatever goals you are setting for 2016, I want you to take it slow. Do not make a ton of changes all at once. You can think back to a time you tried this and you can remember the result. It usually doesn't end well, right? And this is not your fault. Too much change, all at once leads to overwhelm. When we feel overwhelmed we fall back into our old, comfortable habits. No matter what ways you are hoping that 2016 is a new beginning, let that change come slowly, one step at a time.

3. Find ways to keep yourself accountable. Accountability turns your goals from a wish to a plan. Instead of hoping this time we can really see our goals through and enjoy the benefits of having met them, develop ways to keep yourself obligated to your goals. You might do this by setting smaller goals and having a way to celebrate your hard work once you meet them. If you are planning on hitting the gym, find a partner to go with. Depending on your goal, you might find support and accountability on a social media forum. Or set a long term goal that you have to work towards, for example I will be running the NYC Half Marathon in March. This means I need to get my booty in gear and run. If not, I will never be ready.

Accountability is the game changer. You have to have it in order to reach your goals. If you know you need to increase your accountability, I want you to schedule a no-cost Breakthrough Coaching Session with me because when you have accountability and you have support, you clear the path to getting what you want the most.

So here is to new beginnings! May 2016 be the best year yet!
