"Cheesy" Onion Kale Chips

I have been rolling with this recipe for quite some time and I really haven't ever changed it all that much.

And listen, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My kids love this recipe today as much as they did when I first tried it out on them several years ago. (Yes, they are my guinea pigs, lol!)  It has always been popular outside of my home as well. I can't tell you how many times a mom or dad has approached me and told me, "Because of you, my kid is actually eating KALE!" And that is a good thing!

Kale is such a nutritious food and I am so glad that I can share this easy and healthy recipe with you. I hope you can use it to make kale a part of a healthy lifestyle for yourself and your family.

And just a little insider BONUS TIP: The "cheesy" flavor comes from nutritional yeast. It can be used to add flavor to lots of things like potatoes, meatball mixes, eggs, vegetables like steamed broccoli or KALE. It can easily be found in any local health food store but I will also include a convenient link in case that is easier for you.

So, let's get started!

INGREDIENTS:

1 bunch of kale, stems removed, cut or ripped into 2-inch pieces and washed

1-2 Tbsp olive oil (you don't need as much as you think)

2 Tbsp nutritional yeast

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

DIRECTIONS:

1. After the kale is de-stemmed, cut up and washed, I pat it dry and then add the olive oil, nutritional yeast, onion powder and sea salt. I toss it thoroughly (or have one of my lovely assistants take care of that for me) and make sure every piece is coated.

2. Then it is time to lay all the kale on the dehydrator trays, being sure each piece is unfolded and spread out as flat as possible. Turn on the dehydrator and let it work it's magic for 1-2 hours, it really depends on the dehydrator.

If you do not have a dehydrator, I would put the kale in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes. Take them out once the edges begin to down.

3. Once all the kale is nice and crispy, there is nothing left to do but enjoy! I usually take my fair share BEFORE I tell the kids they are ready!

Thank you so much for reading! My crew and I hope you enjoy your kale chips!
